This p2p diamond pattern looks like two capital F's - one upside down to the other one.
It is drawn for a 45 degree diamond, but with adjusting the height it also fits into a 60 degree one.
So it is most versatile and can be used in 6 pointed stars as well as 8 pointed stars.

Also - three 60 degree diamonds can be joined together into a tumbling block, or if you have a large hexagon register the p2p in every second corner.
By being very tricky, and making the height incredibly high the design can be made to run continuously around 8 pointed and 6 pointed stars.
In fact it will work in any star shape - so long as the widest part of the star arm is halfway down.
