Feather POTC sq (4) $16.00 USD
Two blocks - one a variation of the other. This is so you can choose the pattern according to what the fabric in the piecing is doing.
Then - there are two variations of each of the blocks - I have put a p2psu one in for Statler Stitcher users. With the p2psu variation they can use the p2p function for the placement of the block - very quick and easy!
Lucy Boston of Hemingwood Grey made a beautiful quilt incorporating this block.
Linda Franz of Inklingo published the quilt pattern calling it Patchwork of the Crosses. She has also developed an accurate, quick and easy method for cutting the patches for the blocks
However - these blocks are very time consuming to piece - usually they are handsewn. If the quilt top is not going to be handquilted, then certainly a block specific quilting patterns were called for!
When one of these magnificent quilts came into Sue B's Quilting I developed several patterns - from very loose to very dense quilting. This pattern is at the 'denser' end with two, some times three feathers sitting in each of the elongated hexagons (or lozenges).
- other patterns are available, including for the frames and setting squares (put POTC in the search filter).
Tips & Info
- when using the p2p function - do an audition on the first block - to check everything is being placed as you would like. Maybe you might have to move just where it is you are going to register the block slightly. After that has been established - do the same thing every time.
