Jane POTC frame p2p (2) $11.00 USD
Lucy Boston of Hemingwood Grey made a beautiful quilt incorporating this frame around a main block.
Linda Franz of Inklingo published the quilt pattern calling it Patchwork of the Crosses. She has also developed an accurate, quick and easy method for cutting the blocks.
As so much work is involved in sewing quilts from these patches (usually by hand) I have developed a series of patterns for them. These patterns are for the frame around the main block.
These patterns are for the frame around the main block
Getting the patterns into this frame is a bit tricky. Each side of the frame is constructed by joining 3 lozenge shapes together. There are eight sides - but 4 of them are set just out slightly from the other 4. They alternate - 1 out, 1 in, 1 out,1 in, ..etc right around.
In order for them to sew in a p2p fashion, every 2nd one has to be flipped - which sounds well and good, but the flipping is not around the pattern's horizontal axis. So - - best thing for it was to join 2 of them together. Once this is done then it all becomes just too easy.
- other Patchwork of the Cross patterns are available for the blocks, frames and setting squares (type POTC in the search filter).
Design Features
- I am selling this pattern in 2 variations (you get both). the x1 variation is just for the single pattern - but the x2 variation is for two patterns - put together on the angle and with one of them inverted. That way you will only need 4 clicks and the pattern will be registerest - and it will sew out in one pass.
