The illustrations to the left are some images from Sew Kind of
Wonderful's blog. A class had made some samples and pinned them to a
wall. The black lines show how the quilting would sit on them just with
using the p2p. Also shown is how the design might look in a background block.

this design recognises each of the underlying piecing segments - with margins around each for ease of fit.
Tips & Info
there are always going to be some variations with this block - depending
on some cutting and piecing slight variations which are possible -
therefore, I would always recommend you do an audition first, and
control for height if necessary.
