Double IC kites

original
I wanted to show how my Double Irish Chain and setting triangle patterns worked - but did not want to go to the trouble of piecing a quilt. Therefore the idea of stitching an outline was born - effectively the outline basis for a whole cloth quilt.
Once the outline was stitched out I could choose from a myriad of designs to see how they worked together - and more importantly - did they actually do what I designed them to do? I was very pleased with the results, and customers love to see something stitched out.

Tips & Info

  • Outer border: the registration points for the x6 multiple were at the corners and half way across the top and bottom. Once the height of the pattern has been determined, it is very quick to place.
  • Setting triangles: the registration points were half way inside the base of the nearest little square which makes up the chain
  • Chain: the registration points were the centre of the centre squares where the chains met. Using the p2p function to place this pattern meant the points meet perfectly - without the need for rotational fiddling - just click and they are in!
  • Irish chain centre blocks: I used the same registration points as for the chains, but gave them a huge margin. This saves guesswork as to where any other suitable registration points might be
