Hexagon Diamond Quilt

Lorraine brought this quilt top into Carol to be quilted - and after all that hard work of sewing this fantastic masterpiece - just wanted an 'all over pattern of some sort on it'.
But Carol knew that it deserved more than that, and that customised quilting would finish it to perfection. Carol also knew what her machine was capable of and that I had custom designs already to go for just such a quilt.
After some persuasion, Lorraine agreed that Carol could custom quilt it - and was beyond thrilled to see the results - with everyone who has seen it, absolutely falling in love with it.
Carol used blue thread throughout - even on the back, which has resulted in a lovely two sided quilt.
The yellow hexagons were treated as a path and quilted in a plain pattern. The inner diamonds were to take central stage. Each had a swirling frame around a central pattern of butterflies and more swirls.
The pink border was quilted with a cross-hatching type pattern to give the eye a rest before a very large swirl around the outer dark framing border.
Quilting Patterns Used
- Main pattern for the centre of each diamond: Butterfly Elegance hex 9 (2)
- Frame around the main pattern (16 multiple used): Swirls hex diamonds (6)
- Yellow path (x4 multiple used): Kites hex path bldr (6)
- Pink border: Kites bldr a (8)
- Outer border: Swirls fat vine (6)
Tips & Info
- ALL the patterns on this quilt were placed using the p2p function!
- another option for the outer border which would work well with the central diamond - is a pattern from the Elegance range of border designs, depending on the width of the border.
