Missouri Orange Peelqg_000113
Beth Hummel, Quilts on the Vine, Livermore, California Missouri Star Quilts, Orange Peel pattern
Beth's sister made this fantastic quilt for her son and daughter-in-law who had recently married.
Beth's brief to me was that she wanted the quilting to show on the cream background, and she wanted it to quilt out reasonably quickly (wedding already happened!)
Quick and accurate immediately makes me look for a p2p option and at first I though of doing each block in 3 passes - 1 for the peel segment itself, and one for each side of the peel segments. It was another middle of the night aha! moment when I realised that they could be combined into one pattern, which would mean a lot less work and time for Beth.
I am thrilled by the way the quilting shows in the cream areas - and when four individual blocks come together leaving a very large cream area it looks just great.
I think the happy couple will really enjoy this beauty - and the colours used in the patchwork will mean if will fit in anywhere.
Well done ladies!

Tips & Info
the quilting pattern is a p2p square and when the blocks have been placed as they are they can be placed in a zig zag fashion right across the width of the quilt: one tie-off at the start on one side and one tie-off at the finish on the other.
